Little Steps Pediatric House Calls serves families within about 10 miles of ZIP code 60301.

If you are outside that radius, we may still be able to see your child. In those cases, a convenience fee may apply for extra drive time. This is decided case by case and always discussed with you before you book.

Telehealth visits are available more broadly, when safe and appropriate.

When should I choose a house call vs. the emergency room?
Choose a house call for non-life-threatening concerns like:

  • Fevers
  • Ear pain
  • Pink eye
  • Mild dehydration
  • Simple cuts or sprains
  • Routine physicals
  • small cuts that don’t need stitches we can often close these safely with skin adhesive (a type of medical glue

Go to the ER or call 911 if your child has:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Seizure
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Stiff neck with fever
  • Loss of consciousness
  • A wound that needs stitches or heavy bleeding control

A convenience fee is a charge for in-home visits that are outside our standard 10-mile service area around 60301.

It helps cover extra driving time and travel. The fee is not usually covered by insurance, so it is your responsibility. We will always tell you the amount before you schedule the visit, so there are no surprises.

If you are self-pay, or if you decide not to use insurance for a visit:

  • Your full visit fee is due before the appointment.
  • You will see the price before you book.
  • We can provide an itemized receipt if you want to submit to your HSA, FSA, or insurance for possible reimbursement.

Self-pay can be a good option for families with high deductibles or limited coverage.

Yes. A valid credit or debit card is required to schedule and receive services.

  • Convenience fees
  • No-shows or late cancellations
  • Unpaid balances

You will receive a summary of charges before your card is billed for post-insurance amounts. If you need to change or remove your card, you can contact us in writing. Future visits may require another active payment method on file

Yes, you’re always welcome to choose a direct-care pay visit for convenience, privacy, or scheduling flexibility.
When you select a direct-care visit, insurance is not billed, and the visit remains separate from your insurance plan.

Once payment is made for a direct-care visit, that visit cannot later be submitted to insurance by our office.

I understand that by choosing a direct-care visit, insurance will not be billed, and I will not request my provider to submit a claim for this visit at a later time.

We care for children and teens from ages 3 through 19. This covers everything from early school years through high school and beyond. We do not currently see infants under age 3, but we can recommend trusted providers who do.

Little Steps is not an emergency service.

If your child:

  • Has trouble breathing
  • Has severe chest pain
  • Is difficult to wake up
  • Has a serious injury
  • Or you are worried they might be in immediate danger

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away.

Do not wait for a text, email, or portal message to be answered.

Telehealth visits are done by secure video on a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

During a telehealth visit, we can:

  • Review symptoms and history
  • Look at rashes, breathing, and general appearance
  • Go over test results
  • Create a treatment or follow-up plan

If we feel your child needs an in-person exam, we may recommend a home visit, urgent care, or emergency room.

You are responsible for having a working device and internet connection.

Yes. With parental and daycare consent, we can examine your child at daycare. Parents can join virtually if they cannot leave work. This avoids unnecessary pickups and keeps your child comfortable.

Yes. With your request and written consent, we will securely share your child’s visit notes with their primary pediatrician.

Little Steps is not a replacement for your child’s pediatrician we provide convenient care at home when the office is closed or when your family is between providers. Our goal is to work alongside your child’s medical home and keep health records complete and coordinated.

Yes. Common pediatric rapid tests such as strep, flu, RSV, and urine testing can be performed during a home visit. If more extensive testing is needed, we will provide a lab order to take to Quest or LabCorp.

Not just yet, but we’re planning to offer this in the future. We want to help you make informed decisions about vaccinations. Stay tuned for updates!

Little Steps is currently in network with:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
  • UnitedHealthcare (UHC)
  • Cigna
  • Certain Medicaid plans

Insurance contracts can change, so you should always check with your plan to confirm network status.

If we are out of network, or if you prefer not to use your insurance, you can choose to self-pay. (Medicaid cannot self pay)

Not yet.

We are actively working on Medicaid credentialing. Families with Medicaid can still be seen on a self-pay basis until credentialing is finalized.

We file claims directly to your insurance. If your deductible is not met or if your plan does not cover the visit in full, you will be responsible for the balance. Coverage depends on your specific policy and current insurance laws. We will provide a clear bill so you know exactly what you owe.

We’re here to complement your child’s current care by offering flexible evening and weekend hours, providing extra support when your provider is not available.

Our goal is to assist you when you need it most, not to replace your pediatrician.

You can choose our flat-rate self-pay option. This can be faster and sometimes less expensive if you have a high deductible. Self-pay also ensures you know the exact cost of the visit upfront. If you have in-network insurance and choose not to use it, a consent form will need to be signed.

Yes. Enhanced Health PLLC is our legal business name. We operate under the name Little Steps Pediatric House Calls. It’s the same provider and the same care.❤️

For patients 12 and older, Illinois law gives teens certain rights to confidential care in specific areas such as mental health, sexual health, substance use, pregnancy, and safety concerns.

Because of this:

  • At well visits, we may ask to speak with your teen privately for part of the visit.
  • You should stay nearby and reachable, but your teen may have a few minutes alone with the provider.
  • For virtual visits, you and your teen should plan a private space where they can talk freely.

Parents are still important partners in care, and we always try to keep families involved while respecting the law and the teen’s safety.
